Gradepath analysis
This is the largest speech competition in Hong Kong and the one language activity secondary schools can quantify: a strong result goes straight into the student profile and carries real weight in discretionary place and DSS interviews. Adjudication covers seven dimensions — understanding, tone, pace, articulation, projection, eye contact and memorisation — and pace and stress are exactly where Cantonese-first speakers lose marks. With about three weeks to upload, the focus is no longer memorisation but flow and pause.
