Official notice
The official InnoCarnival 2026 "About" page states that, to promote a culture of innovation and technology in the community, InnoCarnival 2026, organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government, will be held at Hong Kong Science Park from 24 October to 1 November. Themed "Innovation Leading, Dreams Soaring", the carnival is supported by more than 40 partner organisations and features a series of interactive and educational activities, including exhibitions of local inventions and research outcomes, workshops, online talks and interactive games. The published opening hours are 10 am to 6 pm on 24–25 October and 31 October–1 November (Saturdays and Sundays), and 10 am to 5 pm from 26 to 30 October (Mondays to Fridays), at Hong Kong Science Park. The page also states that members of the public may visit the exhibitions and join the interactive games and activities in person, or register through the website for the workshops held at the Science Park and for the online talks; all activities are free of charge; online registration places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; and the organiser reserves a small number of places for on-site registration. The page further states that the carnival offers around 150 innovation and technology workshops on different themes, suitable for children, young people and families; around 15 online talks by distinguished academics and industry professionals; and around 100 online innovation and technology workshops to be held in the first half of 2027, with details to be announced on the website later. It also states that during the nine-day carnival, visitors who scan the QR codes hidden around the Science Park and collect all the e-stamps will have a chance to redeem InnoCarnival limited-edition souvenirs, and that completing the mission on weekends earns an ice cream; souvenirs and ice cream are limited, first-come, first-served, while stocks last.
Gradepath analysis
The point of this brief is not that the carnival is fun, but that it is run by a government department, free throughout, and leaves behind evidence of participation that can go into a record of extracurricular learning. Three things to settle first. First, the reality of timing: weekday sessions run only from 10 am to 5 pm (26–30 October), weekend sessions until 6 pm (24–25 October and 31 October–1 November). While you are preparing for examinations, a weekday session means taking leave or rushing after class, so in practice the two weekends may be all you can use — plan against the published opening hours, then decide which sessions are worth attending. Second, free does not mean a place is guaranteed: the official wording says online places are limited and first-come, first-served, with only a small number held back for on-site registration, and the official workshop timetable already shows several sessions marked full. Register first, choose later; do not wait until you have made up your mind. Third, keep the record: because this is an officially organised event, file the activity name, date, organising or co-organising body, and any product or certificate (some workshops are officially marked as producing a takeaway item), so that when you later complete the Other Experiences and Achievements (OEA) section of JUPAS and the Student Learning Profile (SLP), you have something to point to. The workshops are also officially graded by school level (Primary 1–3, Primary 4–6, Secondary 1–3, Secondary 4–6, and aged 18 or above), so choose at your own level; an experience pitched at the wrong level carries little weight on paper. Action: shortlist your target sessions against the official timetable today, then return to the pathways page to work out where these experiences fit.
