JUPAS 23 Oct Update: Three Field Types Changed at Once for HKU JS6224

Three HKU computing and AI programmes were updated again; only the changed fields are listed, not the figures.

The “Programme Changes” block on the JUPAS homepage lists three updates dated 23 October 2026 for HKU programmes: Short Description for JS6224 and JS6999; First Year Intake for JS6224, JS6200 and JS6999; and Programme Full Title / Short Name for JS6224. The “Latest News” block on the same page separately lists “Updates on HKU Programme (JS6224)” dated 23 October 2026. The official programme pages show JS6224 as Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Applied Artificial Intelligence (available in English only), tagged “Updated”; JS6200 as Computing and Data Science (Delta+); and JS6999 as Computing and Data Science, tagged “Updated” beside Short Description. No figures before or after the change are published. The official minimum entrance requirement listed for JS6224 is Chinese Language 3, Citizenship and Social Development Attained, English Language 4, and Mathematics (Compulsory Part) 3.

The value of this batch is not which intake changed — the office published no figures — but that October has now made the same point twice: programme data keeps moving during the application period. Three concrete actions. First, JS6224 had three different field types changed on a single day, one of them the programme’s full title and short name; once a name changes, any short form circulating online may be the old version, so search and rank by catalogue number JS6224 and treat the official programme page as authoritative — the page also states that its information other than Statistics is provided by the institution and that the institution’s own website prevails where the two differ. Second, any claim to know this year’s intake figure for JS6224 has no official basis; what is published is only the name of the field that was updated, and that is the only thing you can verify, with the rest awaiting further announcement by the institution or answered directly by it. Third, schedule reopening the programme pages as a standing task rather than leaving it to the day before submission: if these three programmes sit among your choices, re-check once before submitting in December and again before every round of programme choice modification. Note too that JS6224 asks for English Language level 4 and Mathematics (Compulsory Part) level 3 — a mid-to-high threshold, so do not assume that “new” or “artificial intelligence” implies a lower bar.
