Official notice

The official JUPAS programme page for PolyU JS3000, "Bachelor's Degree Scheme in Interdisciplinary Studies", carries an Updated flag on its "Programme Entrance Requirements". It currently states that the general entrance requirements are the same as the JUPAS general requirements and that there is no compulsory subject requirement; that the preferred subjects carrying the highest weighting in the admissions score are English Language and Mathematics, noted with "Subject to change"; and that the minimum levels are Chinese Language 3, Citizenship and Social Development "Attained", English Language 3 and Mathematics (Compulsory Part) 2, with electives at "ANY 2 SUBJECTS" at level 3, or alternatively "ANY 1 SUBJECT" at level 3 plus Mathematics Extended Module 1 or 2 at level 3. The page also states that an "Attained" result in Citizenship and Social Development is required for the entrance requirement but is not included in the admissions score; that repeaters who sat Liberal Studies in 2023/24 or earlier and have not taken Citizenship and Social Development from 2024/25 onwards may use Liberal Studies at level 2 or above as "Attained" for the general entrance requirement, though Liberal Studies is not recognised as meeting the elective requirement; and that individual schemes or programmes accept one relevant Applied Learning subject at Attained with Distinction (I) level or above.

Gradepath analysis

The most valuable line here is not the four core levels — most programmes ask for much the same — but the note naming English Language and Mathematics as the highest-weighted subjects in the admissions score, because it tells you where the scales tip. The same 5** is worth more in English or Mathematics here than in other subjects, and English is precisely the borderline subject for most Hong Kong candidates: if you are hovering at level 3 in English but solidly at 4 in Mathematics, pushing English may buy more here than pushing Mathematics further. Read that together with the small print beside it — the university marks the weighting "Subject to change", so it is not a promise, and you should not drop a subject you are strong in simply to chase the weighting. The second practical point is how the electives are worded: any two subjects at level 3, or any one subject at level 3 plus Mathematics Extended Module 1 or 2 at level 3 — so if only one of your electives is safe, M1 or M2 can fill the second slot. Hold on to one boundary: every one of these is a minimum entrance requirement, meaning your application will be considered, not that meeting it means an offer. Nothing on this page publishes admission scores or competition figures, and this brief does not speculate on them.
