Eleven LingnanU intakes updated at once: the current official figures

All eleven LingnanU JUPAS programmes now carry an Updated flag on their First Year Intake, with figures ranging from 17 to 43. The pages state neither the academic year nor the previous figures.

Official notice

The official JUPAS programme pages for Lingnan University all carry an Updated flag on the "First Year Intake" field, with the following figures at present: JS7101 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Chinese, 43; JS7133 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Animation and Digital Arts, 17; JS7204 BA (Hons) in Interlingual Communication and Language Technology, 32; JS7211 Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Accounting and Corporate Governance, 42; JS7213 Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Finance, 27; JS7215 Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Marketing and Social Media, 38; JS7503 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies, 18; JS7606 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Cultural Studies, 28; JS7709 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History, 32; JS7802 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy, 27; and JS7905 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Film and Visual Arts, 18. All eleven are four-year programmes funded by the UGC. For interviews, JS7133 and JS7215 are listed as "Yes (on a selective basis)" and the remaining nine as "May require interview and/or test". The pages do not state which academic year these figures belong to, nor do they publish the figures that stood before the update.

Gradepath analysis

Intake is the denominator — the same pool of applicants competing for 17 places or for 43 places is a completely different contest. Three limits apply before you read anything into these numbers. First, the pages never say which academic year the figures belong to, so treat them as "the scale currently published on the programme page" and not as a final quota for a given entry year. Second, the pages do not publish the previous figures, so this brief will not claim that any programme gained or lost places. Third, whether you are considered at all depends on minimum entrance requirements; intake only shapes the competition, and the two are not interchangeable. Within those limits the figures are still useful: line the LingnanU programmes you are interested up from largest intake to smallest and the small specialist ones stand out — JS7133 (Animation and Digital Arts, 17), JS7503 (English Studies, 18) and JS7905 (Film and Visual Arts, 18) are the smallest, so putting one of them in Band A needs a clear fallback; JS7101 (Chinese, 43) and JS7211 (Accounting and Corporate Governance, 42) are the largest. One more line affects your preparation directly: JS7133 and JS7215 list interviews as "Yes (on a selective basis)" and the other nine as "May require interview and/or test" — in other words interviews are not the exception here and belong on your standard preparation list. The Chinese renderings above are direct translations of the official English programme names, given for orientation only; the Lingnan University pages state that this part is provided in English only.
