On 7 October 2026 the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education listed, under Related Information in its News Centre, the Hong Kong Meteorological Society Lecture Series 2026 (October), with four stated details: date, Saturday 31 October 2026; time, 14:00 - 16:00; venue, Room 4379, 4/F, Academic Building, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and enrolment deadline, Wednesday 21 October 2026. The Academy event page also provides a link to an online enrolment form. The official page states neither a quota nor a fee.

The value of a lecture like this is not a prize but two things you can name on a learning portfolio: the organising body and the topic. The October session is a two-hour weekend slot, so the cost of attending is low; the real hurdle is enrolling yourself in time. Three things to note: first, enrolment closes on 21 October, ten days before the 31 October lecture, it runs through an online form, and no quota is published — forms of this kind are usually handled in order of submission, so leaving it to the final day is a poor trade. Second, the official page lists no fee and does not say whether Academy membership is required; do not assume what has not been published, just submit through the form that is published.
