Official notice
The Hong Kong Children’s Choir recruits twice a year, with application periods in May and November. The next intake for the Intelligence-Emotion-Creativity programme (aged 2 years 6 months to 4 years 11 months) runs from 2 to 12 November 2026, allocated by computer ballot with no interview. The choral programme applies in August, with interviews from late September to early October and classes starting the following January.
Gradepath analysis
The value of a choir is not performance but the long record: three to five years of ensemble training is among the most verifiable entries under the extracurricular and service criterion in secondary admission, and outweighs any one-off certificate. The catch is timing — the ballot leads to January classes, and missing the August choral intake means waiting a full year. The LCSD Music Office runs 20 orchestras and choirs with free training, but its deadline falls in early May, so this year means preparing for the audition and applying next cycle.
