Official notice

The Important Notes on the Hong Kong Children’s Choir’s official IEC application form (January 2027 intake) state that places are allocated by means of computer ballot, and that ballot results will be uploaded to the choir’s website after 4:00 pm on 23 November and posted at the West Kowloon Centre, Ho Man Tin Centre and Wong Chuk Hang Centre. Successful applicants will receive an offer letter via e-mail on or before 27 November, and registration should be completed on or before 2 December. The form also states that waiting places remain valid until 28 February 2027: if applicants on the waiting list do not hear from the choir by 28 February, their applications will be considered unsuccessful and no individual notification will be given. The choir also reserves the right to cancel a programme due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen reasons.

Gradepath analysis

There are three gates between handing in the form and starting classes: checking the results yourself after 4:00 pm on 23 November, receiving the offer letter by e-mail on or before 27 November, and completing registration on or before 2 December if successful. The crucial distinction is that a waiting place is not an offer: it only means the applicant is still on the waiting list, which remains valid until 28 February 2027. If the choir has not been in touch by that date, the application is unsuccessful and no individual notice is sent. So check the website yourself after 4:00 pm on 23 November rather than waiting for an e-mail, and if the outcome is a waiting place, keep e-mail and phone reachable until late February while preparing a fallback. The choir also reserves the right to cancel a programme due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen reasons.
