The Education Bureau states that DSS secondary schools not participating in the allocation system set their own application dates, accepting submissions progressively from September to December 2026; public-sector schools hold S1 information days and open days across the same window. Diocesan Boys’ School has announced S1 forms from 17 October, closing 17 November.

DSS and public-sector routes run on separate clocks: DSS schools are collecting forms now, while public-sector schools wait for the discretionary place window opening on 4 January 2027. The most common mistake among newly-arrived families is watching only one track — by the time public-sector forms open, the DSS window has shut. October and November information days are not tours; they are the only chance to observe interview formats in person and leave an impression. Finish the target-school list this month and check each deadline.
