Official notice

The UCAS dates and deadlines page lists for 2027 entry: 15 December 2026, 18:00 UK time — application date for PGCE teacher training courses in Wales; 13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time — equal consideration deadline for most undergraduate courses; 25 February — Extra opens; 30 June, 18:00 UK time — applications received by this deadline are sent to universities and colleges, after which applications are automatically entered into Clearing; 1 July — last day to add an Extra choice; 2 July — Clearing opens; 22 July, 18:00 UK time — last day for undergraduate reply swaps; 23 September, 18:00 UK time — final date for 2027 entry applications; 18 October — last date to add a Clearing choice. UCAS also states in its “Missed deadline?” section that many courses remain open after the main deadline, but recommends asking institutions about vacancies first — especially for courses with a 15 October deadline, since competition is intense and institutions rarely consider late applications. The same section notes that many universities and colleges continue to accept international student applications later in the year, nearer the beginning of the course.

Gradepath analysis

Once 18:00 UK time passes on 15 October, Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses are closed — UCAS itself says such institutions “rarely consider late applications”, which settles the matter for most: rather than emailing admissions offices, redirect the effort to standard undergraduate courses closing 13 January 2027, where UCAS wording is that applications meeting the deadline are “guaranteed to be considered”, provided everything including the academic reference arrives in time. In other words, the next three months are the real battlefield for Hong Kong applicants: rewrite the personal statement against the new target line-up and brief referees early instead of waiting for Diploma results. The other line worth keeping is the international note — many institutions continue admitting international students right up to the start of the course, a genuine fallback for students who decide only after results are released; but “there may be places” is not “there are places”, and the later the application, the narrower the remaining course list. Finally, circle two summer dates: 22 July is the last day for reply swaps and 23 September is the final closing date overall.
