The official EJU schedule splits domestic and overseas timetables; for overseas candidates the slip dispatch date is decided with the local body.

Official notice
JASSO's official EJU schedule lists the application window and admission slip dispatch date separately for "within Japan" and "outside Japan". For the first 2026 sitting: applications are accepted from 16 February to 12 March 2026, closing at 17:00 JST within Japan and with no cut-off time stated for overseas candidates; slips are posted on 22 May (provisional) within Japan, while for overseas candidates the date is decided in consultation with the local organisation in each country or region; the test falls on 21 June and results are released at 00:00 JST on 28 July (provisional). For the second 2026 sitting: applications run 6 to 30 July 2026, again closing at 17:00 JST within Japan with no time given for overseas candidates; slips are posted on 16 October (provisional) within Japan and again by arrangement with the local organisation overseas; the test falls on 8 November and results are released at 00:00 JST on 15 December (provisional). JASSO does not split the test date or the results date between domestic and overseas candidates.
Gradepath analysis
First, Hong Kong candidates sit in the "outside Japan" column, so do not borrow Japan's cut-off time: JASSO gives overseas candidates dates only, with no 17:00 JST closing time, and the real closing hour appears in the Hong Kong administering body's own announcement. Second, no slip dispatch date is published for overseas candidates: JASSO says it is decided in consultation with the local organisation, which means the domestic date — 16 October for the second sitting — does not apply in Hong Kong. Confirm collection arrangements with the local body rather than copying Japan's timetable. Third, mind the two "provisional" markers: the domestic slip date and both results dates are provisional, so check JASSO and the Hong Kong body for the latest near the time. Fourth, the test date and the results release are not split by location: JASSO gives one date for everyone, so you convert the time zone yourself — results go live at 00:00 Japan time, one hour earlier in Hong Kong. Fifth, read this alongside our other EJU brief: April entry in Japan chiefly looks at the previous June or November sitting, and knowing which column you are in tells you exactly when your last train leaves.
