Official notice

JASSO lists the second 2026 EJU for Sunday 8 November 2026, with applications accepted from 6 to 30 July, admission slips posted on 16 October (provisional) and results released online at 00:00 on 15 December (provisional). Hong Kong is among the overseas test cities. Japanese is scored 0–400 for reading and listening plus 0–50 for the written section; science, Japan and the World, and mathematics are each scored 0–200. In Hong Kong, registration is handled by the Japan Society of Hong Kong at HK$600 for one subject and HK$1,150 for two or three subjects, subject to its own announcement.

Gradepath analysis

Whether this sitting matters depends on whether it is your last train. Japanese faculties mainly admit in April and October, and April-entry requirements usually accept only the June or November EJU of the previous year. Miss November and the next chance is June 2027, delaying entry by a full year. The second trap is subject combination: whether you sit science (two of physics, chemistry, biology) or Japan and the World is dictated by your target department, and choosing wrongly wastes the sitting. Science applicants must also note that mathematics comes as Course 1 (humanities) and Course 2 (science). Third, EJU scores stay valid for two years, so a disappointing result this year can still support a 2028 application.
