UAC preference changes must be made online: not by phone, letter or email
UAC says you may change preferences as often as you like before each round closes, but only by logging in; some courses close earlier.

UAC's international applications and offers page states that once you have applied you can change the order of your preferences - or even the courses you have selected - as often as you like before the closing dates for each offer round, and notes that some courses have early application closing dates, which applicants should check as well. Changes must be made by logging in to your application: UAC states you cannot change your preferences by phone, letter or email. A footnote warns that changing courses between the change-of-course date and the date offers are released may cost you an offer to your preferred course. The "Upcoming application and offer dates" section lists 5 November 2026 - change your preferences by 11.59pm for offers released on 12 November - as the next international date.

Three rules, each easier to trip over than the last. First, unlimited changes apply only up to the closing date of each round - once that round's change window has passed you wait for the next one; it is not an anytime facility. Second, some courses have earlier application closing dates, and UAC does not list which: it asks you to check. In practice the six preferences on one application may not share a single deadline, and the most competitive course may close first. Third, and most dangerous: never change courses between the change-of-course date and the offer release date - the official wording is that you may miss out on an offer to your preferred course, which is a systems consequence rather than a polite reminder. And remember the mechanics: preferences are changed by logging in; UAC states explicitly that phone, letter and email requests are not accepted.
