Official notice
Registration for the 2027 joint entrance examination for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students runs from 09:00 on 1 March to 17:00 on 15 March, with the examination held on 17 and 18 May. This route does not conflict with the DSE-based mainland admission scheme and both can be pursued in parallel.
Gradepath analysis
The value of the joint exam is that it is a different paper: students strong in mathematics and science but weak in language can use it to bypass the DSE English disadvantage, while English-strong candidates fare better under the DSE scheme. The real risk is the runway — roughly two months from registration to exam, so deciding in the second term of S6 is cramming by any standard. With about five months to March, now is the point to choose the route and start past papers.
